We Are Here to Work

According to Saint Benedict, monks should devote themselves to manual labor. As he puts it, "then they are truly monks," when they earn their living through manual labor. Domini est salus, "the Lord is salvation." Monks are tasked with spreading illumination as part of their work. As God's "co-workers," we proclaim to all men that he who began this good work is the one who will see it through to its completion.
