Religious Vocation

Monastic Formation

To become a monk, having a calling is the most important factor. Rather elementary, no? Vocation is a calling; the word comes from the Latin word vocare. However, consider the ramifications for yourself. God is calling you to a life of monastic devotion. While acknowledging this divine blessing is necessary, you may be startled to learn that it is not the starting point. Recognizing God's voice is a prerequisite to hearing His call. In other words, you need to be in a place in your life where you can truly listen for God's guidance. A soul deafened by worldly pursuits and distractions cannot hear spiritual truths.
